The third day (Part 4) – He’s Always a Step Ahead Of Us

October 30, 2016 - Bible Series, Genesis

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day. – Genesis 1:11-13

Before man came on the scene, the earth was made to give man a home and shelter. The earth was filled with all manner of herbs and fruits to be a source of nutrition for him. The sky would provide the air and the rivers the water. All were in place before his arrival.

This scenario still happens today. God is always ahead of His people. If He has sent you to do some work, be assured He has made provisions for your success and will be waiting for you there. You will not starve or perish; you will not be in need. Everything will be supplied at the right moment.

Remember Abraham on mount Moriah? The ram was supplied only when the altar was made and the knife ready (Gen 22:13). Remember Elisha in the desert? The raven came with bread in the morning and at evening, only breakfast and supper—no snacks in between (1Kgs 17:16). Remember Israel at Jericho? The walls fell on the seventh day, after the seventh march around the walls, after the shouts and blaring trumpets, not a moment sooner (Josh 6). God will neither be early or late. He will show up when He needs to do so.

So, dear friends, do not be afraid. Your salvation will come. Your day of visitation will arrive. Is there a cloud overshadowing your life? Is there an impeding peril that is threatening your vision and ambitions for the future? The arm of God is not too short to deliver you (Isa 59:1). He hears your cry and your prayers. He feels your pains and anxieties. He has not forgotten you. He just needs you to trust Him like the prophets of old did. If we can but have a little faith in Him, if we can only believe that He rewards those who diligently seek Him, then would we see His majesty and glory and then we would see Him fight on behalf of those who call on His name. He walks before us to prepare a path for us, he walks with us to uphold us, and he walks behind us to preserve our legacy for all eternity. That is the goodness of the God we serve. He is our all in all.

Having said all this, I would do you an injustice if I did not mention that times would come when everything is not running well. God promised to supply all our needs, not every want and desire. Don’t get frustrated that your neighbor has a Lamborghini while you only have your sandals. Instead, bless God that you have legs to walk with. Maybe you have an illness that is bogging you down and your prayers for healing have not been answered. He may not always bless with healing, but He always gives immeasurable grace where needed. A lack of healing is not for us to ponder why we are forsaken, but to share our joy even in tribulation with those in need of comfort.
